Where to Get Help for Simutrans

Starters guide can be downloaded from guide.simutrans.com. If you are new to Simutrans, you should really take a look at that, it will save you many beginners problems.

Wiki.simutrans.com is the best place where to look for information regarding wide range of topics from how to play the game, advanced strategies, to the basics for development Simutrans. (Partial Czech version: manual.wz.cz). This is the best place to go if you have specific questions.

Guide.simutrans.com is the best place where to get documentation useful off-line. Besides the Starters guide, you can also get there the Reference manual going to deepest detail.

Engine table (also in .ods format) lists all Simutrans rail engines and passanger units with their detailed statistics and maximal suitable load. (contributed by Günter Beine, stats to 18-Jan-2006 (pak128 1.2.7))

Simuconfig is an editor which will allow you to set various aspects of the game easily in Windows like manner. Otherwise you need to edit configuration files.

Those are very good places where you can go if you want some examples on how to play the game. They can ease your game start very much, and get you seaminglessly over all the troubles, which are often encountered by new players.

• How do I change screen size and screen modes?
  Look at readme.txt in Simutrans folder.
   
• DOS window opens and closes immediately when I try to run Simutrans on my Windows system!
  This happens if you have not installed the game or some update properly. Please get for example full package from Download & Play page, which is easy to install and extract it to a new clean directory and try to run the game again.
  
  Alternatively, you can go to the Wiki manual for detailed installation guidelines.
   
• How does industry chain look like?
  See the image made by Vladimír Slávik: Simutrans pak128 industry tree structure. (Note: this image already incorporates few additions to food chain which are not yet available in pak128 1.2.4.)
   
• How many squares does bus stop cover?
  Look at these imge examples: bus stop coverage (from version 0.87 station coverage radius is user selectable and default is 2, not 3 like on the picture), and partial coverage, from version 0.87 you only need to cover any building partially to get a all passangers. (Both images are taken from Simutrans Tips & Tutorials and used with permission.) Coverage for any other station type is similar. If you have a multi-tiled station, the total coverage area is the sum of coverages of all station parts.
  • You can open map window to see the areas covered by your stations.
  • From version .86.00 (released 25-Mar-05) it is possible to see station coverage after you press the v key.
  • From version .86.00 standard coverage radius is only 2 squares.
• What are the revenues, speed bonuses and so?
  Look at graph page! You can press "shift+G" to invoke goods list in the game. (From version .85.04.0, such list can be also found in the list tools menu accessible from main game menu.)

Support is currently done through the Simutrans Forum. Here you can meet lot of game fans and all game developers, and have your questions answered.
